Inconvenient Youth: ITOTD Posted by Danny Jensen on September 29, 2008 at 8:48 am

Inspired by Al Gore’s call to action, a high school senior in Palo Alto, California has launched The Inconvenient Youth, a non-profit designed to educate and inspire young environmental activists.   Using on-line registration and text messaging to “maximize the collective power of youth to generate change”, the group has received enthusiastic responses from youth around the country.   They even have a band to help them inspire young people to become leaders in their communities.

A Youth Poem

Where are the Babes?
Inspired by a twenty something male life guard

They are twenty something, the male and the brave,
Handsome and kind; but they must behave.
Without girls to tease; but lust them they must.
Where are the lovers, for those you can trust?
Wonderful in shape, and quick with their smiles,
Their winks and their laughter, go on for miles.
They need the hugs, they need the kisses,
They live for others, not their own, wishes.
Life without love is tough to endure.
These men deserve treasures, they are the pure.
Where are the babes, for those young and true?
Is there less of the pink and more of the blue?
Girls do like money and who does have that?
Men who are older, let’s send them to bat,
For they seek the younger, while mature women wait.
In rooms, sad and lonely, for drugs to sedate.
We have a war going on and our youth heed the call.
To stand up for our country, so we will not fall.
All who have kids and grandchildren to face,
Should volunteer to keep our youth in their place.
Young people need a chance before it is gone,
To fill in our shoes and right the worlds’ wrong.
