Yesterday I pleaded that the McCain-Palin campaign to allow more press access to Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. While there are still zero press conferences scheduled on the horizon for the Alaska Governor, she did sit down for an interview with CBS News‘ Katie Couric last night. Here’s an excerpt of what went down:
Watching this what strikes me is that Governor Palin seems to struggle through the actual questions posed to her while finding a way to swim upstream to the obvious coached talking point that ends most of her answers. She’s certainly not alone in taking this approach to questions. Many politicians on both sides of the aisle make an artform out of turning questions into platforms to push their party line. The problem though seems to be that the relatively inexperienced Governor is just not very good at it, stumbling on her way to getting to that party line, then, once she arrives, revealing palpable relief in her voice and body language that she navigated through the exchange to get to the point she was coached to say.
