Venture Arctic, the latest eco-adventure video game from Pocketwatch Games, teaches players about the delicate eco-systems of Arctic animals. Â According to the website the game allows you to control the weather, see the effects of climate change, learn about Inuit lore, and oddly enough:
“Collect the ’spirits’ of departed animals and spend them to control the forces of nature. Blow the smells of a beached whale to a starving wolverine or blanket the tundra in snow and ice to weed out the weak musk ox from the strong.”
Weird. Â But otherwise: Awesome! Â Educational computer games have come a long way since The Oregon Trail, which will always have a special place in my heart.
takepart and help protect the real Arctic, so we’re not just left with a video game.

wow! this is really cool, I hope we have more of this kind of videogames. my heart really break seeing students on their uniforms playing violent/war video games instead of spending time in the library during their free time. This kind of games hopefully will open their eyes and come to a realization that eventhough they are students they do have a part and can make a difference.
Thanks for your comment Tess! I agree, there are definitely some worthwhile and educational videogames out there, let’s hope they catch on.
