The Associated Press reports that the late and great George Carlin will be honored by fellow comedians iJon Stewart, Bill Maher, Margaret Cho and more when he receives the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
It was announced just before Carlin’s death in June that he would be awarded this high comedic honor. A tribute performance celebrating Carlin’s achievements and contributions will take place on November 10 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington later aired on PBS stations.
Last year’s winner was Billy Crystal and past recipients include Steve Martin, Neil Simon, Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters, Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg.
