Move over Rachel Ray, teens are moving in.
The Food Network is cooking up a new show called The Chef Jeff Project. Chef Jeff Henderson grew up in South Central LA and at the age of 24 he was arrested. sent to prison and spent the next 10 years behind bars. While in prison, he discovered his love for food and cooking and decided to turn his life around.
And he certainly did. He is the Executive Chef of Cafe Bellagio in Las Vegas, a best selling author and with the Food Network, he is about to change the lives of 6 at-risk youths. Jeff is putting these teenagers to work at Posh Urban Cuisine, his catering company and ultimately giving them a chance to for a new life with a career in the culinary arts.
The show premiere Tuesday October 10th.
Reminds me a little of Careers Through Culinary Arts program (C-CAP)- the program featured in our film, Pressure Cooker

I can’t wait for the show. I read his book, Cooked, and have booked him to speak at a charity event in Temecula for San Diego’s at-risk youth. Chef Jeff was actually living in San Diego when he was arrested and his story is a perfect inspiration for the Circle of Hope gala guests!
This show looks amazing! Thanks for this comment.
Please keep us updated with your work at Circle of Hope!
Thanks for writing, Julie! I am so excited to see the show!

Hello,
I am writing to my 19 year old son Jonathan who is prison in Hattisburgson, Louisiana. He used to cook while at home and created mixtures that were suprisingly tastety. Today’s letter includes Chef Jeff’s story instead of GED practice quizzes, and always scriptural reading. If it possible for the Chef to encourage my son while in prison; his address is Attn: Jonathan E. Dixon, 499 Columbia Road, Harrisonburg, LA 71340.
He has not yet been sentenced but his next court date is November 18, 2008. Since in prison he has a new found appreciation for reading.
It is wonderful to read all the messages here. I’m so glad Chef Jeff’s show is inspiring so many people. Except for Shorty. Oh well. Can’t change everyone.
Hello, I`m a chef at a university in the very finacially challenged city of Flint, Mich. In my 35 yrs in this industry I currently have 9 people That have been “pulled from the dish room”and given the opportunity for a real shot at a career in food service. Some have gone to pursue further culinary training and education, others are still learning from my expierence and mentoring…..I am proud of each and every one of them!
I am excited to see that your show is a great example of what “true chefs” do to “give back” as well as what we do for our guests, clients, and employers. Thank you for what you do. It`s so important in these very tough financial times. THANK YOU, Exec. Chef Bill Robinson
Hello, so glad to finally see a reality show that is based on truth, love, and consistancy. I have been waiting for this show to start and just finished watching the second episode. I am a 61 yr old mother and grandmother who has parkinsons disease and have watched so many shows that were or are self serving and what a blessing to be able to watch the progress that Chef Jeff is making with these young people. I used to work in property management and as I was a survivor of abuse some of which started as a child, I was living underground to keep my children safe. The opportunity arose to work alongside my city Gang Task Force to help with the problem. I enjoyed both sides of the work and to see Chef Jeff come at these youth with honesty and straight up talk it is something that is so honorable. To give back, on a daily basis with a sincerity and passion is awesome. I just voted for Cathy on the list of favorites and I want her to know that she is such an awesome young lady. My prayers are with her daily, please hang in there honey and don’t give up. Your Spirit shines through. Last week when Chef Jeff put her on the dishwashing duty she was so down, but he came to her and encouraged her and so respectfully gave her a hug. I will watch this show as long as it airs. Thank You Food Channel and especially Thank You Chef . Julie Laws……The Senior Princess
It’s a blessing to have someone like chef Jeff around for these kids, to give them guidance and help. GOB bless you always chef Jeff. I saw you guys on the feeding the General Hospital staff, and i’m praying for all the kids es[ecially for Adam, that GOD will change his attitude if he didn’t by now!

Blessings More, thanks for your interest in others. Do you know of any project that would help adult ex cons to become chefs. My grandsons is getting released in March 09 and has experience in cooking and baking , his favorite is cakes and making stir frying. Thank you, my email address in edymceachin@yahoo.com.
Hi,
Who ever the producers of this show are, shame on you!
You picked the biggest group of looser and set them up for failure.
You killed Adam’s spirit!
Shante clearly wants to be fired!
Alonzo is below average intelligence!
Katherine and Brett are so white! (Self-Absorbed and Comical)
Minus Maria, everyone in your cast displays typical stoner behaviors I mean come on, this is L.A.!
Either Chef Jeff is naïve enough to think he can change the lives of six young adults by paying them money and filling there heads with non-sense about becoming a chef themselves or he knows that some dumb will. In the end Chef Jeff, couldn’t inspiring an alcoholic to drink.
DEAR CHEF JEFF I AM A FRIEND OF CHEF SARA BOWMAN AND I HAVENT SPOKEN TO HER FOR A WHILE .PLEASE LET HER KNOW CHEF ROBERT SKALADA IS WISHING HER WELL!!!
my aunt had told me about the project and asked me if i would be interested in it and i really do think i would be. my dad is a cook and a really good one at that, i , myself do get into a lot of trouble and i do love to cook i would really be interested in this project and i think it would be a very overwhelming change for me and my family. i think that it is great that someone would be willing to give us young adults time to help us sraighten out our lives
The Chef Jeff Project is definitely a wonderful, heartwarming program. I just wish that there were more episodes and less scripts.
It’s pretty apparent that these kids had some culinary experience just by watching them handle cutlery with no accidents other than the staged one by Chef Jeff.
Otherwise, the shows inspirational, moving and genuine. Hope to see a new season with real amateurs, actual disqualifications and a longer season.
Thank you……
I am a 32 year old single mother of 3 kids,a recovering drug addict,as well as a former felon who is finally going back to school after 13 years of screwing my life up but,my ultimate dream is to become a chef and open my own business and I’m hoping I can find somenone like Chef Jeff to help me get started on the road to a better life.

I love this show Chef Jeff cares for others and try to changed their lives cause a lot of people don’t care about them. I feel very grateful like people like you that still care for others.God bless you
I am trying to contact Chef Jeff on behalf of some incarcerated men that have developed a “Cognitive Mentorship” program to help their peers. It is a wonderful and effective method to reach and teach. They have been empowered in part by Chef Jeff!
