Remember the band Cake? Of course you do.  How could you forget this song?
Yeah, they’re a pretty awesome band. Â And, recently, they decided to go one step awesomer (totally a word, I swear), and have turned their recording studio into one that runs on solar power. Â From Cake’s official website, they tell us
CAKE is very pleased to announce that we have installed a solar array on the roof of our studio in Sacramento, California. We hired a company with great experience and competence, Borrego Solar, and they set us up with a way to break away from our dependence on the city’s energy grid. Working on a new album, we feel satisfaction in the common denominator of together embracing the unlimited resource of the sun.
All tracks for their upcoming album will be recorded using 100 percent solar power, and any unused power will go back to the grid. And seeing as the studio’s in Sacramento, California, there will probably be plenty extra power, seeing as the city runs an average of eight billion degrees, celcius.
There’s a YouTube video of the roof being installed, but it’s really not very interesting, so I think instead, I’ll give you another music video of another great Cake song.
I saw Cake about, I think, two years ago or so, and the lead singer did not look as I expected him to. Â That, of course, is more of an issue having to do with me than with the band, but I didn’t expect someone so…bearded. Â That being said, they were very good and are well deserving of your time and energy.
I’m sorry…where were we? Ah yes, the part where I tell you to do something.  You can takepart by visiting Findsolar.com, which is “Connecting you to renewable energy professionals,” just in case you want to green your recording studio.  Or whatever else.
