Right Now Van Halen is Mad at John McCain Posted by Gina Telaroli on August 29, 2008 at 4:45 pm

When John McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running mate today, he ended the rally by playing Van Halen’s Right Now and Van Halen is not pleased. According to the Huffington Post, “the band had no idea McCain was planning on using “Right Now” during his big entrance in Ohio telling us, ‘Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given.”‘

I went back and watched the original video for the song and think I know why John McCain thought it might be OK to use it - give a watch and see if you can figure it out:

I mean there is a moment where the screen reads “Right Now Oil Companies and Old Men Are in Control” - maybe he thought that was an endorsement - esp considering that he’s old and Palin is down with drilling for more oil…

And because “Right Now” is our tomorrow, be sure to takepart and join us here at TakePart as we try to connect folks together through movies and social action.

The song and video are both masterpieces!

Men like McCain, who have no interest in preserving anything for the next generation, will not last much longer! The circle of life will prevail!

As a divorced mother trying to raise children in a world run by oily businesses, I would like to say something to ceo’s of oil companies and their friends who make profits selling us chemicals, weapons, tobacco, alcohol, legal drugs, vaccines, all the stuff I have to have in my house made by enslaved labour, cruises, holidays at all inclusive hotels, energy drinks, junk fast food, and magazines to convince us to buy so we can keep our economy going.

STOP! THINK!
YOU ARE accelerating evolution!
It will be harder for us multi-celled organisms to keep up to the single-cells!
YIKES!

Thank YOU, Bon Jovi and all who stand with you!!

You ROCK!

You are # 23 on my list of powerful men! I had just read he was considering politics!

Bon Jovi is a singing man, who should become an American politician.
He has power, looks, and charisma. His government needs a musician!

Whoops!!

Bon Jovi is NOT Van Halen.

I must have been out of it!

Not sure how I got them mixed up!

After this video that touched me, I will be adding Van Halen to my list!!

Van Halen, you also ROCK!!

Van Halen is #102! Thanks for sharing this video!!

Men I Missed

Heath Ledger came to life for me as the Joker. He grins from the past.
I’m He. I’m Her. I’m Not Here. I’m Not There. No one of us will last.
Van Halen and his band of men need us to pay attention RIGHT NOW,
To how aids, racism, bad laws, bombs, famine, oil, and hate hurt! OW!

PS. to all those people having unprotected sex right now: I do not agree with condoms for safe sex nor do I believe in abstinance. Condoms are mostly latex with spermicides and will not be safe over the long term for women.
I think there is another option.
