I created some Michael Phelps controversy when I incorrectly assumed he didn’t eat unhealthy foods the other day (oops!) - but one thing I can’t mess up is the fact that Phelps is 5 for 5 (at this moment anyways), that is he’s won gold medals for all 5 races that he’s swam thus far.

In honor of those 5 amazing wins (I still can’t get over watching him swim) - here are my Top 5 Swimming Movie Moments. Feel free to leave your favorite pool/swimming moments in the comments!

1) Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate/Bill Murray in Rushmore - The Graduate scene came first and the Rushmore scene was created with it in mind.. I couldn’t find clips of either as they should be - but I did find a clip of the Rushmore scene with music from The Graudate - go figure:

2) Anais in Fat Girl - Even is Spanish (it’s supposed to be in French), there’s something haunting about this scene

3. Forrest and Jenny in Forrest Gump - There are a plethora of great swimming moments in the film and even though the scene below actually features no real swimming - it makes me so happy every time!

4. Joan Crawford and Daughter in Mommie Dearest - I should preface this clip by simply stating that I absolutely adore Joan Crawford, no matter what.

5. Harold and Mom in Harold and Maude - There’s something fascinating about watching Harold’s mom swim next to his fake suicide. (go to the end of the clip for the scene - keep in mind the score is wrong)
