Global Giving, the website where people like you and me can safely donate money to charities that make a difference, unveiled it’s new green section on Friday. Now, you can give money to charities that Global Giving has deemed worthy of it’s green leaf of approval. Can you be more specific, you may ask? Why, I happen to have information straight from the website, right now!
A brand new section of our site focused on helping people and the planet. We’ve hand-picked projects that address climate change and poverty - you choose your favorite and watch your donation make a difference!
Fantastic. The people at Global Giving Green have developed a scoring system to decide which charities are the greenest and thus must deserving. What criteria are used in this rubric, you ask? Why, I happen to have a list of the criteria right here, right now!
- “Additional” Impact
- Ecology-Friendly Economics
- Other Environmental Benefits
- Social and Cultural Benefits
- “Adaptation” Benefits
Basically, Global Giving vets all the charities out there down to the ones that really make the most difference. Â As well, once you’ve donated, you’ll receive updates on the project you’re supporting, so you know exactly how you’ve helped out. Â You can takepart here and check out Global Giving Green to learn a lot more about the process, and what those criteria I listed above mean. Â And, if you feel like it, you can throw a little money their way. Â I think that’s kinda what they’re hoping.
In other news, I’ll be driving from the Bay Area to Chicago starting tomorrow, and most likely won’t be posting as often as usual, what with not really having an internet connection in moving vehicles. Â But I’ll try and check in every so often. Â Until then, keep on keeping on.
