Nas Calls Out Fox News Posted by Jon Popham on July 24, 2008 at 1:54 am

Nas took it to the Fox News Network today outside their Midtown Manhattan headquarters. The hip hop star, whose album now sits atop the charts, delivered a petition with over 620,000 signatures demanding Fox change its coverage of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama and his family. Citing recent examples of a Fox anchor referring to Michelle Obama as Barack’s “babymama” and of Bill O’Reilly using the term “lynching party” in reference to candidate’s wife, Nas and the convened protestors presented the demand that Fox News President and former (and some would say current) Republican political operative Roger Ailes “find a solution to address racial stereotyping and hate-mongering before it hits the airwaves.” Here’s some video of the protest:

Fox News predictably rejected the petition. However one of America’s leading conservative thinkers, Stephen Colbert, agreed to air the protestors grievances on the Colbert Report. Who knows what hijinks will ensue when Colbert lashes out to “defend” “Papa Bear” Bill O’Reilly?

You can takepart in demanding Fox News do the right thing for a change by logging onto ColorOfChange.org and signing its petition.
