Cell Phones and Cancer: Can You Hear Me Now? Posted by Wendy Cohen on July 24, 2008 at 6:05 pm

The head of a prominent cancer research institute issued an unprecedented warning to his faculty and staff Wednesday: Limit cell phone use because of the possible risk of cancer. [AP]

This isnt good.   The warning is from Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. He warns that we shouldnt wait for a definitive study to conclude that cell phones are dangerous. We should take action now.

You can read more about the cell phone warning on Wired.

I wonder if cell phone use is going to become like smoking: you can only use it outside of a restaurant, you shouldn’t use it too close to others, you have to ask permission before using it in a friends house. And  maybe films that glamorize the use of cell phones will receive an R rating from MPAA.

takepart and read what you can do to prevent cancer from cell phones.

People have been looking for a cell phone-cancer link for a long time with no definitive evidence, much like people have been trying to blame powerlines for cancer as well.

Your chances of walking into something, or driving into something while talking on a cell phone are much higher than a cell phone causing cancer in you.

Even radiation (ie that which comes from a nucleus) is only a weak carcinogen, and it has known ionizing and DNA damaging effects. To the best of my knowledge, no one has shown that EM of cell phone frequency can damage DNA.

If you believe in evolution, you have to know we are still evolving.
That means we will change to match our environment.
Anything added to life by man has this potential.
Just how fast can we adapt is the question.
