The Heart of Illegal Immigration on the Big Screen Posted by Gina Telaroli on July 23, 2008 at 2:29 pm

If you’re in NYC today (and tomorrow) you should stop by New York International Latino Film Festival and catch a film. One that I recommend seeing is called La Americana. It’s a simple, moving portrait of a women caught between the realities of being an illegal immigrant and the love she feels for her family.

La Americana plays at the festival today @ 4pm and tomorrow at 8:30pm - I saw the film at this years Grassroots Media Conference and was impressed at how it really puts a human face on a very large and complicated issue - immigration. So go check it out or visit http://www.la-americana.com/ to find out when the film might come your way and also be sure to takepart with the social action plan for The Visitor, a film that deals with immigrant’s rights too.

If clouds are full of water, they pour rain upon the earth. Whether a tree falls to the South or to the North, in the place where it falls, there will it lie. Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.BibleBible, Ecclesiastes 11
