A climate change activist in the UK decided to leave his placards at home and go for a more non-traditional form of protest over a controversial plan to build a third runway at Heathrow by attempting to superglue himself to Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Dan Glass of London’s Plane Stupid group got himself invited to a meet and greet with the PM on Tuesday, and then managed to smuggle in the superglue by stuffing it in his underwear. Here’s more from Green Daily:
When it came time to shake hands with the PM, Glass went for the two-hander, his left hand slathered in superglue. Then he told the other guests: “Do not worry - this is a non-violent protest. We cannot shake away climate change like you can just shake away my arm.”
I can’t help but wonder what would happen to someone in the US if they tried to pull those kinds of shenanigans on George Bush. Slap on the wrist? IRS audit? Water boarding? Go directly to jail, do not collect $200? Your guess is as good as mine.
