The Atlantic just published this thought-provoking article on the thought-destroying properties of the Internet.
Here’s a taste — because we don’t want to drown you in words — of author Nicholas Carr ’s take on the subject:
And what the Net seems to be doing is chipping away my capacity for concentration and contemplation. My mind now expects to take in information the way the Net distributes it: in a swiftly moving stream of particles. Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski.

We were created dumb.
Smart has to be evolved and the internet is helping my brain gets the data it needs for that!!
PS. I loved the show Dumb and Dumber! Funny thing is, I consider Jim Carrey to be one of the smartest and hottest men in the world. He is on my list of Many Powerful Men!
The internet could be a powerful tool in the right hands. However, resource diversion has a cost - every internet hour and dollar squandered on self-centered, self-serving pursuits represents a tragic loss of resources that could have been used to transform altruism and compassion into effective worldwide action for peace, green-living and health? Are you a part of the problem, or a part of the solution?
