Arrested Development Actually Going to be Made into a Movie! Posted by Andy Kondrat on July 1, 2008 at 1:16 pm

arrested development posterHoly God, Arrested Development actually is going to be made into a movie. And, well, this is probably the greatest news since I realized if I wear sandals all the time I never have to tie my shoes. According to ew.com, which I deduce to be Entertainment Weekly’s website,

Jeffrey Tambor has confirmed published reports that a movie version of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy is in the works. After months of speculation, I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an Arrested Development movie,” Tambor told EW.com at the premiere of Hellboy II on Sunday. “I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say.”

I’m pretty sure that this moment, this moment where we found out that Arrested Development is going to be a movie, ranks high on the list of Greatest American Moments of All Time, somewhere between signing the Declaration of Independence and Rocky IV where (spoiler alert!) Rocky ends the Cold War.

Not only is Arrested Development incredibly wonderful, but one of our favorite people at takepart, Ed Begley, Jr., played Stan Sitwell in the series. Begley has since gone on to star in his own reality show now appearing on Planet Green, Living With Ed. You can takepart and visit the Living With Ed website to learn more about the program, and even ask Begley a question if you’d like.

If you’ve not watched Arrested Development yet, first of all, shame on you, and second of all, here’s the pilot. Enjoy.
