The Environmental Protection Agency’s name should be a pretty good giveaway for what it’s supposed to be doing, but a survey conducted by the Union of Concerned Scientists states that 56% of EPA scientists surveyed have “experienced at least one incident of political interference in the past five years.” And on Wednesday, the top science adviser for the EPA was taken to task by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee as the agency has been “allowing more ozone pollution than the EPA’s advisory panels recommended and [has been] holding meetings with White House officials about pollution risks that are kept secret from Congress and the public.” That sounds about right.
This is the sentence I like the best in the article I found concerning the EPA’s involvement with other parts of government: “Gray [the science advisor mentioned above] insisted the EPA’s work is transparent even though it holds closed meetings with the White House Office of Management and Budget and other government agencies when it considers the risks from toxic chemicals.” Awesome.  I don’t even think I need to comment on that.  And to think that an agency created by Richard Nixon would be involved in less than totally moral politics.
You can read the rest of the article here, and of course it’s going to get you aggravated, so you can
by contacting your member of congress and ask them to keep investigating the EPA’s questionable policies.  Cause, I mean, come on.  Really? And just when I thought I was jaded past the point of soapbox preaching.
