Hillary Andrews was not Stoked when Bob Stokes, her co-anchor at The Weather Channel, asked her to “lick my swizzle stick,” leered at her chest, followed her into the women’s dressing room, and questioned her “over and over again, non-stop” about her sex life. I guess Hillary Andrews has no sense of humor and couldn’t tell that this was all in good fun, not sexual harassment. Luckily, The Weather Channel does have a sense of humor. When the whiny Andrews asked to be paired with a new anchor, the Weather Channel responded in the best way they could– by giving Andrews the overnight shift and, ultimately, firing her. The Weather Channel values tradition, and this is what they did to the last woman who asked to be assigned to a new anchor. But there is some good news!
Yesterday Andrews won a sexual-harassment claim against Stokes. The Smoking Gun has the scoop and the lawsuit.
Disgusted by Stokes, The Weather Channel, sexual harassment and the acceptance of it? Inspired by Andrews’ bravery? Then
and find out more about sexual harassment.
