To-Go Ware Wants You to Use Your Own Utensils So You Don’t Waste Another Spork Posted by Andy Kondrat on May 6, 2008 at 4:27 pm

Are you one of those that gets a little irked when you order delivery, and they include plastic utensils with your food, even though you’re eating at your own house?  So why isn’t it that you bring your own utensils when you eat out at that same place?  Or, even, everywhere you go?  To-Go Ware thinks that maybe you ought to start doing that.   The company was founded on the thought that if people have reusable coffee cups, why shouldn’t people do the same with forks and knives?

The company’s website points out that a plastic utensil is used for an average of three minutes before becoming garbage.   To combat such waste, the company has created a pretty simple mission.

Our mission is to make available innovative products that provide a solution, tell a great story, and are enjoyable to use. To-Go Ware seeks to stimulate positive practices for the way people live in relationship with themselves, their neighbors and the planet. We hope to empower people to participate in the process of changing the world they live in by providing them the tools to do so.

The utensils and carrying cases are sleek and eye-catching, and even count Woody Harrelson as an advocate, who was surprisingly convincing in No Country for Old Men, though that is completely irrelevant here.   Better yet, 10% of online purchases this month go to the Women’s Earth Alliance.   So and check out the site, and be sure to visit the Learn More section for an interesting look at what all these plastic utensils are doing to our environment.   Also, maybe eat with your hands?  That’s environmental and messy fun.   Win/win, my friends.   Win/win.
