Goodbye for Nau Posted by Wendy Cohen on May 6, 2008 at 1:42 pm

A few weeks ago, Andy introduced us to Nau, the fabulous eco clothing line based in Portland, OR. But Nau, we have some sad news. Nau, Inc is winding down its business operations and will soon be closing its virtual and brick and mortar stores. The heartfelt goodbye note on the site explains that in less than one year, they were able to donate over $223,000 via their customer directed giving program, Partners For Change.

Read more from the team at Nau after the jump:

Nau set out to show the world that business can be a force for positive social and environmental change. Although our current financial obstacles have proven to be insurmountable, it does not mean that our fundamental goal is unattainable. Nau was merely one attempt to express a larger idea that was around before us and will survive long after. It remains as urgent as ever for businesses to take the lead in creating a sustainable future for humans and the planet. We, as individuals and as member of a grander collective of the change-minded, look forward to continuing that journey. [nau.com]

Nau, I hate to make light of this situation (and I should probably stop writing Nau instead of Now) but everything on their site is 50% off and free ground shipping!

If you want some awesome, sustainable clothes, Nau is the time to buy them (that was the last one!)

by visiting their site, learning how they want to do business, and maybe pick up a shirt along the way.

The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew.AbrahamLincolnAbraham Lincoln, 1809-65, Second Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862
