Celebrate Compost Awareness Week Posted by Andy Kondrat on May 6, 2008 at 12:10 pm

How to!Didja hear?  Didja didja?  It’s Compost Awareness Week 2008!   Yay!!!   Big news.   Big news.   The event is put on by The Composting Association and WRAP (for the life of me I can’t find what that acronym stands for), and was started in Canada and has reached the UK, but seems to not quite have permeated the American market yet.   BUT, that doesn’t mean composting isn’t way cool in the states.   Look no further than Julia Roberts for the veracity of that last statement.   She composts, and she was in that one way cool movie.

Other celebrities are on board for this Compost Awareness Week action, too.  Assuming you count gardeners on your list of celebrities.   Charlie Dimmock has endorsed the Awareness Week, and, I dunno, maybe she’s like Tiger Woods or something in England.   Per the official website,

Gardening celebrity, Charlie Dimmock is enthusiastic about supporting WRAP and Compost Awareness Week. She will be involved in a range of activities over the week to help promote this year’s theme of ‘Greening up the Environment’. Charlie will be sharing her advice and top tips about home composting and using peat free composts containing recycled materials, so look out for her throughout the week.

There are plenty of ways to , including but not limited to, checking out the official website, or and go to WRAP’s website and see what they’re doing to promote composting.    And let me know if you figure out what that stands for.   Lastly, and learn how to compost for yourself.   Cause isn’t that what this week is all about, really?  You bet your sweet bippy it is.

It’s one of the easiest ways to help mother nature.
She doesn’t waste a thing.
Go composters.
How about under the sink composting?

We composters are still in the minority, but not for long! More and more people are waking up to the wonders of rot. Linking to ya from our own little Compost Awareness Week party…
