The presidental candidates appeared on last Monday’s WWE. Each candidate taped a special message for the WWE in their best mock-wrestler voices, Hillary Rodham Clinton renamed herself Hill-Rod, John McCain renamed his fans the McCainiacs, Barack Obama offered the line do you smell what Barack is cooking? Then the show staged a match between political look-alikes.
I’m not sure why I didn’t hear about this before seeing it on Best Week Ever today. Oh wait I know why, because I don’t watch the WWE nor do I really care about the WWE. But if this inspires people to vote…
On the Youtube page for this video someone left the comment “so they promote violence?” which poses an interesting question. I mean, wrestling? Why?
A spokesman for the Obama campaign said it did the W.W.E. taping for the same reason we taped a segment with Rachael Ray this campaign has been about reaching out to new voters and getting them involved in politics, so it’s important to reach as broad an audience as possible. [NY Times]
Alright fine, the appearances were made in an effort to reach male viewers ages 18 to 34, let’s hope these shenanigans did indeed get those boys interested in the election.
