Florida Teens to be Tried as Adults Posted by Giulia Rozzi on April 11, 2008 at 12:58 pm

Eight Florida teenagers, six of them girls will be tried as adults and could be sentenced to life in prison for their alleged roles in the videotaped beating of another teen, the state attorney’s office said Thursday. [CNN]

Okay first of all, gross, sad and gross. Second of all, why do people continue to tape themselves breaking the law?

The disgusting video (which I will not post here) shows a a 16-year-old being punched, kneed and slapped by other girls. Authorities say the eight teens said they attacked the victim after she posted insults against them on the Internet. Also, police say the teens planned to post the video on YouTube.

This is why the Internet scares me. The Internet is so involved in this situation, first it was used as a platform for verbal attack then it was going to be used to showcase violence. Clearly all of these girls are desperate for some serious attention and in need of some serious help. and check out Focus USA’s page on teen violence at http://www.focusas.com/Violence.html. it offers some great resources on how to raise non-violent kids.

I HOPE THE LAW DOESN’T FAIL US AGAIN;ANYONE THAT CAN DO THE THINGS WE VEIW ON THIS VIDIO, WILL DO IT AGAIN, TO ANOTHER PERSON OR EVEN THEIR OWN CHILD. IN MOST COUNTRIES IF YOU BREAK THE LAW,YOU FACE PUNISHMENT,SO LETS NOT LET THESE UGLY BEINGS GET AWAY WITH SWEEPING A STREET FOR A MONTH.
AN EYE FOR AN EYE, WOMEN IN JAIL HAVE KIDS, WE WILL SEE HOW MUCH THEY LIKE TO FIGHT IN THE FUTURE

all of them should have been charged with attempted murder and the judge should have tripled/quadrupled their bond.

the parent of one of the teens felt the sheriff ‘was making a moutain out of a molehill’ - oh my. no wonder these kids behaved the way they did. lack of parental guidance. this is not acceptable behavior in our society. step up dad and be a parent!

The last time a group of teens beat a student unconscious they were charged with attempted murder (Jena 6). But justice is still not blind in America. After it is all said and done the actions of these white teens will be rationalized into an indictment of the media and probation (slap on the wrist) for them.

These girls should be made an example of with the harshest punishment possible to end this video (youtube) nonsense. Is our society turning into “The Running Man” staring Arnold Swartzenager? Obviously we need new laws for cyber bullying. We do not need people like these running around loose.

Anyone who thinks these kids should not be punished as adults for what they did should have the same beating done to them, and then see if they still feel that way. If they do then they really need their head examined. I mean seriously. Would you want that done to your child and them get away with little punishment? No! So dont bitch about this either. We have enough bleeding heart liberals in the country as it is!!!

Ok, as a single parent to two teens myself. I know what my kids are up too at all times. I have to deal with their problems as well as their friends’. But not one of them would ever do something like this. This was a planned out “beatdown”. The whole thought of even video taping it is sickening. These kids should be tried as adults and given the harshest sentence that can be given. I would also hold their parents responsible to an extent, because obviously not one of them have ever beat their child or disaplinned them in anyway. My kids and their friends know better because I will definately kick they’re butts. That’s what’s wrong with kids nowadays………..start whooping them again!!!!!! This taking something away or go to your room is crap and it doesn’t work!! Kids need disapline folks. Get your heads out the sand and quit acting like your kids do no wrong. Another thing, quit trying to blame Myspace and YouTube for these dramatic events. It starts with you and your kids.

I was back from disney ’s magical world to see and hear this horrific crime. I personally feel that the girls (although i have 2 girls myself) should be given the harshest and most difficult of all punishments. I heart pours out to the girl who was beaten, was let out although she wanted to get out. i think the kids parents should be held responsible. With so mauch of yelling going on in the house any parent who is responsible should find out and inspect what is going on in the house. I think the girls pictures should be blown up and put up in all important places to remind other kids that they plight is going to the same if they mess with other innocent kids. I hope and pray that are parents of the innocent victim are given enough strength to pass through this. I strongly feel that the parents of all eight kids should be punished and jailed for not teaching their kids what is good and what is evil and animal behavior. I think i should not put the animals in shame well, animals have more brains then this brainless girls.

I personally think that until the government and law really start to crack down on teens this same instances if not worse in the future will just continue to happen. Anyone over the age of 10 know better than to think that beating up someone is okay. I will be sickened if all of the teenagers don’t serve the maximum penalty. I know that if a son or daughter of mine did something like that, when I have one, should fear me a crap load more than anything the law or the government could do to them. If the 8 teenagers don’t serve the maximum penalty then our system of law enforcement serves us no purpose any longer. As said above the courts have failed in enforcing the law before but there is no escaping it when it was video taped and put on You Tube. They were well aware of their actions and need to learn to take responsibility for their actions. Until the government cracks down this will just be the start of a lot more teenage outbreaks in violence.

Is there any website or community that I can visit which will tell me more about what I can do to help stop the girl-on-girl violence? My heart is stirred up by this and I don’t know where to turn. Thanks!
