I saw the Eddie Vedder ” No More War” video last night for the movie Body of War and was crying by the end of the song. The lyrics paired with images from film were so moving and made me want to take action. See the video here:

Body of War is a film by Ellen Spiro and Phil Donahue which documents the difficult life of Tomas Young paralyzed by a bullet to his spine after serving in Iraq for less than a week. Here is the trailer:
If the music video for the film had such an impact on me, I can only imagine the power of the actual film. I plan to see it as soon as I can and you should too.

Body of War
NO MORE WAR is beautiful!
You ROCK Eddie Vedder!
It is so easy too.
End arms.
Peace.
What Have I Been Thinking?
Inspired by What Have I been Drinking
By Tom Lavin and the Powder Blues Band
What have I been thinking? That we should control our drinking.
Some entice us to get stinking; their members surely shrinking.
When something can’t be done, please don’t force my son.
No war is truly won. Why don’t we have more fun!
Girls sold on auction block, at twelve in Red Bangkok.
“Time is upâ€Â, dooms the clock. So love is all I want to talk!
This battle with the very bad is making mothers sorely sad.
Our sons, they make us oh, so glad. Save them or I’ll get scary mad.
It should be such an easy fix, with all man’s colours in the mix.
Please don’t kill us just for kicks! Wait until compassion clicks!
I think we should be cleaning. I have children I am weaning.
What we have has no meaning. Stay the middle! I’m not leaning!!
All this work and no more play, seems to be a wayward way.
“Please stop all wars,†I will say. I’ve been thinking, “Save the day!â€Â

I am not sure if you guys have heard but Tomas Young was admitted to the hospital this past weekend for a blood clot. The Pitch newspaper out of K.C. did a story on it. Here is the link The Pitch.
