A Wisconsin factory that manufactured submarines during World War II is back in production to help us wage our latest battle–the war to wean ourselves off fossil fuels. Instead of building submarines, the factory is turning out towers to support wind turbines.
It took some deep pocketed investors with faith in a “clean tech” future to get Tower Tech up and running, but the company’s clearly got the wind to its back now. The old submarine factory’s filled with efficient new machinery manned by a workforce that’s nearly doubled in the past year. Tower Tech’s poised to become one of America’s top wind power producers, generating power and profits. Sounds like a wind-wind proposition.
