Gas Chamber Survivor Daniel Finds Forever Home

He was named for the Biblical hero who survived the Lion’s Den. Back in October, pound puppy Daniel languished on death row in a Florence, Alabama, pound. But the miracle beagle emerged unscathed from the gas chamber that killed several other dogs, securing his life and an inspiring legacy.
Now Daniel has found a forever home with a loving family in Nutley, New Jersey and four other dog friends, including a pitbull mix named Shelby—all rescues.
The Dwyers, who adopted Daniel, told MSNBC that they will use the inspiring hound in campaigns to outlaw animal gas chambers already illegal in 31 states, and a mascot for pet adoptions “He won’t be exploited,” said Joe Dwyer. Dywer, his wife Geralynn and daughter Jenna adopted Daniel last week.
The pairing of Dwyer and Daniel seems preordained: Joe Dwyer is a motivational speaker and a dog trainer. But providing Daniel with a loving home comes before his career as spokes-hound.
“[Daniel’s] life as part of this family is paramount,” said Dwyer.
