Trixie the Chihuahua may only have two functioning feet, but that’s not stopping the rescued pooch from keeping staffers at a shelter in Florida on their toes.

Paralyzed from the pelvis down, the seven-year-old homeless dog walks only on her two front legs.

She was found last week wandering—err, balancing—on the streets of Cape Coral, Florida, before police officers scooped her up and took her to Lee County Domestic Animal Services, reports WINK News, a CBS affiliate.

“Whatever happened, whether it was a car accident or some other kind of injury, it wasn't cared for,” said Ria Brown, of the shelter. “She doesn't look like she had veterinary care. So she just healed, and learned to compensate by walking on her front legs.”

Officials at the shelter marvel at Trixie’s ability to get around.

“You think maybe she'd take a few steps and stop,” said Brown. “But she can go for quite a while just on those two little front legs.”

The center says Trixie is best suited for a quiet, adult home.
