SNL Makes Fun of That Awkward Moment When Your Government Shuts Down

A parody of 'Gravity' and our very own U.S. Congress, last night's opening skit was particularly appropriate.

A Bay Area native, Andri Antoniades has previously worked as a fashion industry journalist and a medical writer.

Two weeks and counting, guys. The government shutdown carries on, and considering there's little optimism that its end may be near, the best we can do is laugh about it.

That's why Saturday Night Live's opening skit last night was a perfect fit for our country's current state of affairs.

Comedy seems like especially appropriate therapy at the moment; The Washington Post reports moods in Congress grew particularly ugly in the past few days, with representatives of both parties involving themselves in some nasty exchanges. (Stay classy, guys.)

But if dancing your pain away seems a more fitting response, TakePart created this shutdown-themed playlist to get you through your government-focused frustrations. After laughter, dancing may just be the best medicine.
