Leave it to the folks at Funny or Die to make the health care uproar entertaining.
As you're probably aware, starting tomorrow, October 1, you’ll be able to log onto HealthCare.gov and enroll in the healthcare plan that’s right for you. To get the word out (and poke fun at opponents), Funny or Die created this riff on ABC's hit show Scandal, in which Jennifer Hudson trolls DC looking for a scandal that can't be solved by the Affordable Care Act, but comes up short.
The viewer tags along as the Dream Girls star goes in search of salacious stories but instead finds herself wearily counseling people that debt-laden millennials can stay under their parents' health insurance plans until they are 26, insurance companies will have to offer policies to those with pre-existing conditions, preventative care services for women are covered, and—gasp!—annual check-ups are free.
Despite the funding debacle and uncertainty over the DMV staying open if there's a government shutdown, the message of the video is clear: Healthcare scandals will, under Obamacare, be a thing of the past—and television references are clearly the best way to get Americans' attention.
