Dildos, drugs, guns and grenades—not exactly the types of purchases the average Joe wants to be suspected of carrying home in a see-through plastic bag.
Creative advertising agency Mother has capitalized on this fact in an effort to attack a longtime eco-enemy: single-use plastic bags. Mother’s innovative design, dubbed the “Uncarriable Carrier Bag,” depicts distinctive silhouettes of various contraband in an effort to decrease the use of the polluting plastic bags.
Mother’s four embarrassing motifs include a heroin spoon and syringe set, a grenade and dynamite stick, a gun and large dagger, and two dildos.
Although Mother’s intentions are noble, and the designs are hilarious, we can all agree that the bags are unlikely to be picked up by family-oriented megastores like Target, Walmart or Kmart, which still hand out plastic bags to their huge shopper base.
We at TakePart HQ instead advocate for politically correct depictions—perhaps a plastic-bag-littered beach or a really cute, dead sea turtle that’s been suffocated by the shopping throwaways.
