For years here at TakePart, we've covered the push by the folks at Global Zero to help rid our world of dangerous nuclear weapons. They've recently turned up the heat on the Obama Administration to finally act and begin multinational talks with Russia and other nuclear states to move towards a nuclear-free world.

Global Zero recently wrote to supporters:

Now -- following our meetings in recent weeks with senior White House officials -- we know that it is under consideration and President Obama is deciding whether to proceed. He has scheduled a meeting with President Putin in Northern Ireland next week with nuclear weapons at the center of the agenda, to be followed by a second meeting in Russia this September.

These next few months will determine whether President Obama and world leaders take bold action to set our course to zero nuclear weapons. We are marshaling our entire international movement to make that happen

They've got some famous starpower to back them up.

In a new two-minute video from Global Zero, Alec Baldwin, John Cusack, Matt Damon, Robert De Niro, Danny DeVito, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Whoopi Goldberg, Zoe Kravitz, Martin Sheen, Christoph Waltz and Naomi Watts all stand up and say they "demand zero"—a world without nukes. Check it out above.
