At the age of six, most little girls are brushing their Barbie’s hair and playing house. But mini breakdance prodigy B-Girl Terra is battling boys at the Chelles Battle Pro competition in Paris, France.
Still in the single digits, Terra not only has her own street name, and her own snazzy tracksuit, but she’s already a winning member of the British B-Boy dance troupe Soul Mavericks.
She represented her troupe during the European competition’s Baby Battle division, where she destroyed most of her opponents. Terra was a favorite to win until she battled JStyles, a B-boy who ended up stealing the competition.
Still, for a little person with such swagger, the loss hardly seems consequential enough to keep her down; Terra’s performance has already gone viral and with good reason. She’s not “good for a girl,” or “good for a child”—she’s just amazing.
While breakdancing has some female representation, this six-year-old girl’s enthusiasm for it may just take it more mainstream. Let’s hope—though there’s nothing wrong with a little girl wanting to be Barbie, there’s also nothing wrong with her wanting to crush her competition on the dance floor.
