Clip of the Day: Russell Brand Talks Drugs With Parliament

Unable to escape a bad-boy past, Brand uses his experience to help others.
Apr 24, 2012

Although Russell Brand is most often seen as a fun-loving comedian with a rock star persona, he has no qualms about openly sharing his story of addiction and recovery. Clean and sober for nearly ten years, Brand has been a patron of the British recovery and rehabilitation organization that helped him, Focus 12, since 2005.

Russell Brand shares his experiences as an addict with Parliament.

Today, Brand, along with Focus 12 Chief Executive Chip Somers, appeared before Parliament’s Home Affairs Committee to testify on drugs. Brand and Somers advocated for abstinence-based treatment and the importance of medical treatment over criminal punishment.

You can view Brand’s full testimony on Parliament’s official site.
