#ThankYouFriday: Mom Stops Runaway School Bus After Driver's Seizure

Take a bow, Rhonda Carlsen—my, oh my, do you ever deserve it.
On Monday, the New Mexico mother chased down a runaway school bus, coached a third grader inside to open the door, hopped into the driver’s seat, and hit the brakes to bring the yellow behemoth to a complete stop. She then shut off the engine and called 911.
"It was a moving bus, and it wasn't stopping. [My daughter] just yelled to me, 'Mom, something's not right with our bus driver,'" said Carlsen to KOAT 8 of Albuquerque.
The bus driver, who had suffered a seizure, is now recovering at home. None of the children onboard, including Carlsen’s daughter, were harmed.
"I'm just so thankful that it happened in our neighborhood 'cause it could have been a lot worse if it was on a busier street, if it happened when they got to school and kids were nearby," said Carlsen, to KOAT 8 of Albuquerque.
