The Most Effective Argument for Gay Marriage? (VIDEO)

An innovative new ad from Down Under is getting lots of kudos for its marriage equality pitch.

Supporters of same-sex marriage in Australia have unveiled a sexy, poignant and innovative new video in their push for marriage equality Down Under—and it's generating a lot of feedback on the Internet.

It's Time follows one couple through all of the ups and downs of a relationship, from the first meet cute, through the inevitable roadside fight after getting lost on a trip, to the touching married conclusion.

The fact that it looks nothing like a tradition political ad is helping it resonate even more. No one looking right into the camera and talking earnestly about their cause. No cheesy hopeful music in the background. Just two Aussies in love.

"ZOMG THE NEW GETUP GAY MARRIAGE AD MAKES ME WANT TO FALL IN LOVE AND GET MARRIED CMON JG HURRY UP AND FIX IT SO I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" wrote Twitter user @sunili.

The JG she's referring to is Austalian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who's party is in the midst of a wrenching debate about whether to support marriage equality. The matter comes to a head at the Australia Labor Party's annual conference in December.

Advice columist Dan Savage, who called the video "required viewing," wrote that "people who actually have hearts will be able to appreciate it."

GetUp! Action For Australia, the group behind the video, is hoping to get it up on national television ahead of the Labor Party vote.

Saying that gay people have a right to get married to me is like saying that men have the right to bear children. It goes against natural law for two men to unite in this manner. The purpose of marriage is to provide the most basic building block of an orderly society through love AND procreation of the species. Strange how it is unlawful for a man to be married to more than one woman, a minor or an animal in the western world yet certain people want to make it universal law for two men to be married? What hypocrisy and irrational and subjective justification of vice. It has been proven that the most emotionally and mentally healthy people come from a nuclear home with both mother and father. It is easier for gays to contract HIV. Gay men have lower life expectancy...the list goes on. Why would anyone entertain the sactioning of this with all the facts stacked against it?
