'No, Whole Foods Is Not Promoting Ramadan'

Just in case you were confused, America's favorite overpriced grocery store chain hawking humanely-raised meats, locally-sourced organic produce and all manner of candles, herbal pills and tonics is not "celebrating" or "promoting" the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
No way. No how.
And the only reason we even have to type those ridiculous words is because a bunch of cranky right-wing bloggers got their collective panties in a bunch after Whole Foods introduced a line of Halal-certified frozen dinners just in time for Ramadan, which lasts through August 29.
And it seems those Halal heat-and-serve boxes of Lemongrass Basil Chicken, Lamb Stew, and Pad Thai were so deeply offensive to Israel and America, and a sure sign of the terrorists winning, that Whole Foods higher-ups sent an internal email advising its stores:
"It is probably best that we don't specifically call out or 'promote' Ramadan... We should not highlight Ramadan in signage in our stores as that could be considered 'Celebrating or promoting' Ramadan."
The Houston Press obtained the email, which they included in a must-read story on the entire debacle. You can get all of the details over there.
Whole Foods has engaged in some pretty furious spin control on their corporate Twitter feed. But in case there was any doubt that the company was most certainly not endorsing, condonding, celebrating, or promoting Ramadan, just check out our headline.
That's another direct quote from the Whole Foods email in the Houston Press.
"No, Whole Foods Is Not Promoting Ramadan"
Well, as long as that's settled.
