Heather Taylor, the Los Angeles blogger behind L.A. in Bloom, isn't kidding when she says that canning is "having a moment." Right now canning is everywhere, thanks to the local food movement and the desire to squeeze the most value out of every tomato during lean economic times. 

Taylor caught up with canning expert Jen Smith who shared the basics on preserving fresh and local ingredients while they're in season, so you can enjoy them year-round with friends and family.
