Get Hungry: Warm Brussels Sprouts Salad With Honey-Dijon Vinaigrette

This oh-so-tasty salad could run you $7-10 per serving at a gourmet restaurant or café, but for the same cost you can have three servings if you make your own at home. (With the money you save, splurge and have a bit of wine with your al fresco lunch!)

Not a fan of Brussels sprouts? Give them one more chance. Pan-frying will keep them from emitting the smell they're infamous for (which is released by overcooking), and open your eyes—and mouth—to their merits.

Balanced by the sweet tartness of the cranberries and crunchy texture of almonds, the sprouts are served warm and drizzled with a light dressing.

Chef's recommendation: If you have access to goat cheese, crumble some on top once the salad is ready to serve. It will add a creaminess you'll love.

Total cost: $3 per serving.
