"Save It," a Short Film on Climate Change Created by a 10-Year-Old

We may (or may not) have written before about Nikos Spiridakis, the 10-year-old who wrote and directed "Save It," a short film on climate change (I mean, we're so prolific here, who can really keep track?).  But Spiridakis is going to be on "Good Morning America" next week (and making an appearance with takepart, too!), and that's as a good of reason as any to post the film.  So, enjoy! httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-APJaeVXxs After the jump, there's a great video about how they made the film. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajmZCwWPA9o I'd say Spridakis is a pretty impressive young person.  You can takepart by visiting 1sky.org to get involved.  And keep your eye out for Mr. Spiridakis.  My guess is he's going places.

Thanks for your message Nicole, i did not mean that you had not paid attention, i was referring to not getting much response when i reposted your bulletin to my 7260 friends on myspace. i often get many responses and comments to my bulletins. However i could not fit all the words into the subject line and found it such a great blog i planned to come back. BTW i seldom drive (about two times a months and my 92 Geo Metro gets better than 55 mpg because i drive slow) and my 64 year old vegetarian husband rides his bike to work 6 days a week 24 miles a day. i really wish others would follow our example! Recently for my birthday i got a dog trailer so i can drive even less. After seeing "Who Killed the Electric Car?" And waiting several years for an all electric car to finally be told they were not going to make them available, i swore to never buy a car again until there is an all electric vehicle available! Ironic, Nikos came up with the idea for this video after watching ME fill up our tank with gasoline! When I got into the car he asked me if I had heard the beeping as the gas went into the tank. Then he said he needed to do a "Global Warming Commercial with that sound and the little boy is worried but the dad doesn't know why and at the end you hear a long BLEEEEEEEEP because it's dead mom, We killed out planet!" I got chills, then I picked up the phone and called Marshall Herskovitz and told him the idea. He signed on as Executive Producer. It took 10 months, but I thought of nothing else except for getting my son's message out there... Nicole Hansen (Nikos' Mom)

My twelve year old son watched as I put $91 in my tank. He said." Mom, I will not be able to afford to drive when I get older." I told him, "By the time you are ready to drive, we will have safe, reliable, clean transportation." Was I right or did I tell a lie? Down with the internal combustion engine! It competes for the title of man's worst invention. Maybe we can get all of the 10 year olds to stand up and look their father in the eye and say "Can you leave something for me? Can you make sure all the toxic waste is cleaned up? Will you leave me the tools so I can raise my children? I like this planet, dad!"
