Violence against women has no single face. Indeed, the circumstances and degree of violence varies greatly, but one truth remain constant: this violence is senseless and must be stopped.
In countries like the U.S. domestic violence often happens behind closed doors where one in four women are abused by a partner or family member in her lifetime. In countries where tradition and custom leave women with few rights - there are as many as 5,000 honor killings each year.
