Improve School Lunches: Tell Congress Pizza Isn't a Vegetable

Congress just passed an Agriculture spending bill that weakens the USDA's ability to implement common-sense nutrition standards for school meals.  As a result of industry lobbying, the bill protects the dominant position of pizza and French fries in school lunches. Tell them we won't stand for this kind of policy-making anymore.

Pizza uses vegetables on its face but is itself not a vegetable. It would be okay if it had vegetables on the surface, like onions, mushrooms, etc. But no sausage, pepperoni, beef, turkey, or anchovies. Then I would call it vegetarian. Also, let congress and restaurants know that macaroni and cheese is also not a vegetable.
