Hello World, I am a teenager in America and I finally saw The Cove today in my Environmental Studies class. It angered me to the core, yet at the same time brought me to tears. I really want to know if there is any actual volunteering I can do, other than sign a petition. I yearn to save these dolphins because they are so human-esque that I feel as though we are killing our own family. Any ideas for how an 18-year old can save the world? Please? I LOVE YOU, DOLPHINS!
I cannot agree with you more, Ms. Wavra! I feel as though signing a petition is NOT enough and I want to fly to Taiji and stop it! It must be brutal to actually live in the country where it is occurring and not be able to help. Maybe you should try contacting Ric O' Barry personally to see what he suggests you can do. (If I wasn't trapped in the US, I would go straight to Taiji and cut all the dolphin nets every day...but that's just my inner activism speaking:) Good Luck!
I just saw the movie "The Cove" and tears welled up in my eyes. I have, ever since I can remember, had a special place in my heart for dolphins, porpoises and whales. I attend a college in Lewiston, Idaho and will speak out to anyone who will listen about watching this movie and "taking action with me" to group together for solutions to these horiffic actions against some of the world's most intelligent creatures. You are either a part of the problem or a part of the solution. One Person CAN make a difference. Let it be you and I.
I cannot believe that such brutality still exists among peaople of God, of course I do not think that these babarians have any knowledge of bible since they can indulge in such inhuman act of killing live creatures. Anyway thank God for public awareness because I guess that is the first step to curb such actions. Please!!! save lives and save the world.
first off I am simply a WITNESS of the doc "the cove". nothing more. it's too sad that in all the people in the world this page can go months in between posts. For more people not to care about this is a true disgrace. we have all heard of/seen the efforts of the world to save whales..... Yet this leading page can only get a "handful" of people to care enough to write about what they so newly/strongly believe. If this video hasn't jump started the american government to ACT than there are some major issues with all of us. This is not fishing. this is killing. For this to go anywhere this video must be appreciated by an leading government official and then acted on. How is this still happening???????????????
We need to save the really soon!!! I love dolphins with all my heart!! I am actully going to school to become a marine biologist next year!!!! I hope to save as many as possible!!!
The cove inspired me like nothing before. I don't want to sit on a computer and write comments about how wrong it is. I want to take action and help. I just moved to japan and i feel like i can not just sit here and do nothing knowing that next month the slaughter begins. If anyone can help give me ideas on what i should do, please feel free. I want to actively help in any way possible
I was sent a link to your movie - the Cove - thank you for risking your lives to make it...it is a step in the right direction to save these gentle creatures. I personally will never watch a dolphin show anywhere at any place in future. Thank you. I wish I could do more. Canada.
I just saw the documentary, and I can't understand why those people kill dolphins !!! Dolphins are the sweetes animals in the ocean. I am very happy with the team of the Cove, thank you for doing this to share it with the world. I would never ever visit a dolphin show anymore !!!!! It breaks my hearth to see animals suffer like that. And to know that people think those animals are happy !. What can we do to stop the Japanese people for killing dolphins ???? From Curacao
I never even thought about this horrible act until I saw the documentary. We need to spread the word to everyone we know!
The Japaneese people that appear in the video (Policie, Government and Fishermen), that they still have the attitute and that character that made them go to war (Pearl Harbour), no respect for the right of life. Arrogance at their best, it looks like they have not learn at all what that they where before the war.
we need to help these poor harmless animals.
hi am a chinese saw your video i am very touched with the action how could they do that to the dolphins they are like human they have heart just because they ate the fish then that does't mean you can kill them i think they should stop
I hate Japanese dolphin fishers!
Hi.....Am from Maldives!!! Here in Maldives it's strictly prohibited fishing of dolphins or slaughtering them!!! Thats why our fishermen use the safest method as possible in fishing which is pole and line fishing..If a dolphin gets caught in line..Our fishermen cut the line immediately!!!!! So why cant these Japanese fishermen do the same!!! I got shocked when I saw that river filled with blood.. This documentary is truly an eye-opener to the world. Ric O'Berry, Man you have guts.... :P
8'] Click on 'take part'. It took me a few to figure it out.
EARTHLINGS All of you may wish to view another documentary called 'Earthlings' narrated by Joaquin Phoenix.
okay time out, the post that are saying the "japanese" are not people and whatnot needs to stop. you are making references to things that happend, as you said, decades ago. The documentary clearly pointed out that most of Japan doesn't even know this is going on! And when they found out, they wanted it to stop. The documentary pointed out that it is a small number of fishermen. This isn't about let's bash Japan. This is about saving our wildlife and more specifically dolphins. The most important point is that EVERYBODY, whether your Chinese, Japanese, French, English, American, African, etc, that we all come together and stop this!! How are we supposed to band together to stop this awful, horrible thing if we are taking hits at one another!! The past is past, so now let's look to the future together and do everything that we can do to save the dolphins!
I am a chinese student.I just finish ''THE COVE''. I can't believe that Japanese treat the dolphins in such a cruel way!!! We must stop it!!!As a student ,we also have many ways to protect dolphins.
I just watched the documentary. this is absolutely an eye opener. I cried several times when watching this. WHY ARE HUMAN BEING SO CRUEL. they are so selfish. they don't even know they are actually destroying the connection between human/animal and the nature. I heard they do the same thing in Denmark as well. http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-353114 its unforgivable. we MUST stop this and save the world!
yesterday i watched the ducumentory until the midnight,i donnot want to stop ,because i was shocked.i a chinese,i konw japanese are crusul they are not human beings ,because they even donnot have the basic humanlity.decades of years ago, they sent troops to our country, they killed people just for fun .thanks godness, there is such an excellent institution existed in the world.let all the people kown what the real japanese is! i will try my best to let my friends and all the people around me realize this
mmmm, so where con i read the Dolphins in Captivity brochure?....
I just saw the movie today and it was so sad. I can not imagine eating such a sweet animal such as a dolphin. It made me cry when I saw the lake full of dolphin blood. SAVE THE DOLPHINS!
Hi, I'm from Germany and I saw your film last day and I was shocked. I knew that things like that happen in the world but when you see it, it's getting a lot clearer for you that it's time to react and to do something! Thank you for this movie and I would like to help you and your movement.
HI, I from Mexico, I just saw the movie, I think is great, it is the best way to open the eyes of people, who can't see far beyond the beauty of sea creatures. Is time to take action NOW!!!!
I just saw the movie. WHAT IS WRONG WITH US????????? I wish to do something about this; starting by not ever setting me or my familly a foot, ever again in a delphinarium. Thank You for openning my eyes! I promise to become a better human. It its for people like you that I dont lose hope in our kind. Best Regards!
Well,im Chinese and a famous writer broadcast your vedio in his blog,so many people saw it and im one of them.I got really angry and want to do something. However,im a student of Senior2.If there is anything i can do ,anything i can, please tell me how. I love wild animals. And Im pessimistic to these environmental problems. And thank all of you,who help to make the film or to protect the dolphins. You are my heroes.
when seeing the last scenes which were filled with the blood of dolphins in COVE, i nearly burst into tears.i'm just a college student in China, without much money or ability to make a difference, but i believe if there were thousands of volunteers, including myself, we could make it.Finally i wanna say something to the pitiful dolphins,we will do my best to help you, because we live in the same word!
Why must our people come so low...we need to acknowledge what is going on and save these dolphins...this is wrong on more levels imaginable. We have the power of now...the power of one. This needs to end. So cruel.
I am a Chinese high school student. These days the movie "The Cove" is increasingly acknowledged among our students. Our foreign teachers allow us to watch this movie during the class period and we are really really shocked and irritated. I am very appreciated about the contribution made by the director and the group members. I am now in the GCE program and half-year later I will study in the US. I hope those unawared Japaneses can wake up!
I'm a middle school student from China. And I was entirely shocked after watching the movie. Thanks to your actions which let us know about that sick behavior. I supposed you forever!
I saw the movie just now too and it killed me to see what happens in that cove. It was Rise Against's (rock band) newsletter that told me about this movie. This movie didnt even release in the UAE, where I live, so I have a downloaded copy. I am showing this to my yr 12 class in school in a week's time, and I hope we can help spread the word and stop this slaughter once and for all. Thanks to The Cove's team for showing this to the world.
This is just sick...Those Japanese fisherman were laughing when they killing dolphins!!!! I watched The Cove. I was totally shocked! Couldn't stop crying when I watch the part that dolphins were killed and the sea water became red! I am a Chinese biological student. I am in UK. Hope I can help by sending this webpage around my friends and telling them to watch The Cove.
I rented the film from blockbuster-"The Cove" and was outraged!!! We all must help save these precious dolphins! I WANT TO HELP! I am in Florida now and have traveled about and interacted with dolphins in the wild and they are so kind and to mankind...I call them "ANGELS OF THE SEA". This is like holocaust of WWII-MURDER, killing families-(pods) all ages, the sickening red blood cove -killing 23,000 a year, no words to explain! We need to tell our friends to watch this film so we can all make a difference by being involved... as I am going to see if Robert Wyland is involved. Thank you Ric O Barry and friends! I will help anyway I can, let us know how if anything new comes up...PLEASE HELP -"PRAYERS OF HOPE" for the dolphins!! You could start a "prayer of hope people list for the dolphins" Ric, a small donation to join and see how many will?! Billions would!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to help more!!!!! Keep up the fantastic work...
After seeing the movie,I can't believe it. why can people do this? If somebody bring them to a cove and slaughter them day by day,I think the japanese will be hopeless. I really want to do something to help stoping this horrist activity If you need me ,please tell me.
my cousin told me to watch this and after watching ,i was totally shocked, and i can't believe this is happening!!!!!!!!! i'm a high school student, and i will convince every person i know in the school to watch it , and get more people to know about it, and we might make a difference! AND AT LAST, I'M REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE WHAT WHAT ALL OF HAVE DONE FOR US, AND FOR THE WORLD, THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM MY HEART.
After watching this documentary I was totally shocked, I can't believe this actually happened to the most adorable marine creatures the dolphines!!!! Every scene in the COVE just like a dagger that stabbing deep into my heart, it really hurts. The slaughter is absolute brutal and inhumanity. Those cold blood Japanese fishman are devils, their behaviour that againest filming this movie which is ugly. What they are doing to the dolphines, one day they will pay for it by a heavy cost. As long as the market of the dolphines' show exists, the killings would never stop. The only thing I think I can do is to let more people to know what happened in Taiji by sharing this documentary. When more people know the truth, the more help will support to protect the dolphines to be killed.
I knew Dolphins where getting killed in like 2006 i always got upset coz they no need for them to be killed in that kind of way that goes to eny kind of sea life. Dolphins are peaceful and beautiful creatures but those fishermen are so heartless they should get fired for good, is like the greeks they sed Dolphins are so important I watch the cove today and it should get people thinking of what they are doing. For a long time i always want to help the Dolphins in japan i do my best to share this film
1- Fifty Million Lost Lives Since 1973 [By Randall K. O’Bannon, Ph.D.][http://www.nrlc.org/news/2008/NRL01/LiveLost.html] 2-Thousands of Women Killed for Family "Honor"[ Hillary Mayell, National Geographic News , February 12, 2002] 3-An estimated 520,000 people were murdered in 2000 around the globe(obviously not including those who lost their life in war.)[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder] The facts above are sololey provided to bring the awareness of human beings to humanity! Why criticize Japan? I would rather criticize human race. Being the only nature's creation with the power to choose between right and wrong, its a curse to know that the world is declining toward its doom because of us. What a shame to know that we are the biggest threat to the earth. Here you are talking about saving cetacea. How can you expect such a big move from a specie who isn't even loyal to itself? Please don't take your life for granted.Start loving yourself, then only you would be able to love others. Every human life is sacred and the day one understands this thing would be the day one starts to love the nature.
I am a High School Biology teacher and consider myself an environmentalist. I had NO idea this was occurring! Thanks to all responsible for bringing this to light through The Cove. Even though Sea World is one of my favorite places to visit, after watching The Cove, I have now decided to stop visiting these types of venues. As long as there is a market for show dolphins, this type of behavior will continue. I believe we can make a difference one person at a time...and I intend to start now!
The movie was a great tool to share the word and to give everybody, including myself, a convincing way to spread the word. I agree with longlifeahead, that someday the technology will allow us to communicate with dolphins better than whistles and sign language. That is, if they haven't spread the word throughout the ocean that many enough humans are evil, so avoid them all. Can the dolphin in distress sounds be broadcast throughout the entire harbor in the bay? Can a person who owns land in the bay permit an activist to broadcast the dolphins in distress recording so that other dolphins get it to run away? Can the noises that scare the dolphins into the cove be redirected to scare all dolphins away from that area? Nice work filmakers for trying to give some logical reasons why the fisherman are being so evil. It is understandable they think dolphins eat too many fish and for survival, humans want to replace the dolphin on the foodchain. That is a strong argument in the US telling a fish eating society to allow the dolphins to share in our food source..
i have always been interested in being a marien bio. but i had almost decided to change my mind... but then i watched The Cove. I now want to become a marien bio. so i can stop "people" like that.... if somebody can do that i dont even want to classify them as fellow human beings.... i will try my hardest to spread the word around where i live so that we can stop acts like this from happening... i am glad that i watched it before my family because i think they would have made me shut it off because they would be so upset... also my little brother would probably have nightmares so i am glad that i watched it before he could because i dont want him to see that part of "humans". i am glad i watched it so that i can someday hopefully help stop stuff like that.
Right on Ric and the rest of you!!! The world NEEDS more people like you to have the courage and resources to do what you are doing!! After watching The Cove, I found it hard to find any difference between what is happening in Japan with the slaughter of those dolphins and the holocaust of WWII. I wonder, what is the insignia of japanese fishermen, if not the swastika?
After watching the cruel and cold hearted slaughter,I even can't believe that happened to those lovely dolphins! This is sick! These "human being"make me angry , instead of one name calld"EVIL"! I really want to help these poor animals and stop killing them .I'll do my best to share this documentary "Cove" to all the people around me .
I was so shocked after watching the documentary film The Cove. The slaughtering of 23, 000 dolphins a year is an extremely brutal action. The scene that the ocean water tinted with the blood of dolphins kept me awake all night long, and I think it is not just me but even the man with little sympathy will feel angry and unbearable to this sick behavior. I really want to do something to help stoping this horrist activity.
same as a chinese, i just want to express in chinese to prove our determination. 从自我做起,珍惜自然所给的一切。爱护它,保护它。
Hello! I am a Chinese, I do not speak English, use google translation! Saw your video, I am very touched, either with your actions, they will continue to kill, I believe that as long as some people of conscience will do, I will tell these evil as much as possible around the People, so that more people attention, get more people involved in the operation to protect the dolphins! Thank you sincerely for animals such as dolphins, the contribution of our planet!
