Katherine Heigl, star of the comedy hit “Knocked Up” says she found the film to be sexist.

According to the NY Post Heigl explains “it paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys,” she says. “It was hard for me to love the movie.”

Of course this truth was revealed after Katherine received payment and accolades from the film.

Was the film really sexist or was it simply poking fun at one type of male/female dynamic? Truth is, there are women who are humorless and uptight just like there are men who are humorless and uptight but this film decided not to show those men. So does character choice equate to sexism?

  1. Well, I don’t find it lame because from my experience very actress or actor has done this. Patrick Demspey hinted how the lameness to act in front of CGI in Enchanted, and said he went home depressed. Then he said he kinda hates the writing of McDreamy. This was after he received payment and accolades from his role. The same was true of Harrison Ford when he did the Star Wars. So to me I find this very common thing. I loved Knocked Up, but some parts were a big sexist regarding Mann and Judd’s character dyamnic. Paul Judd’s character was all cute and loveable while Mann’s was very uptight.

  2. Here is the full quote
“a little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women? Ninety-eight percent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie.”
So I really don’t see it a full diss like Patrick or Ford. Seems straightforward to me.
